About Reiki

What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle yet powerful healing technique that promotes deep relaxation, reduces stress, and supports the body’s natural ability to heal. It works through the channeling of Universal Life Force Energy—the vital energy that flows through all living things., supporting the body in healing itself.

Although Reiki has a spiritual foundation, it is not tied to any religion and does not conflict with any belief system. Instead, it aligns with the universal principles of energy, intention, and balance.

At its core, Reiki is a beautiful example of mind over matter—where the focused intention of both practitioner and recipient can help shift energy, restore harmony, and promote healing on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels.

How does Reiki Work?

In Eastern medicine, it is believed that life force energy, (or ki) flows through us, keeping us alive.  It is the free and balanced flow of this energy that creates health and well-being by nourishing our organs and cells of the body, helping them perform their vital functions.  When the flow of energy is disrupted, our functioning is diminished and illness results.  Our thoughts and feelings also affect our energy flow.  Mind-body means your body and mind as one indivisible unit. Leading edge science has proven without a doubt that your body works that way.  Your thoughts and emotions create a biochemical, and electrical chain reaction in your body.  Mind-body healing techniques are powerful in their ability to cure a wide range of illnesses, with no side effects.

I, the Reiki practitioner, am trained to channel and direct Reiki energy, and am “attuned” to the specific Reiki vibration, allowing myself to bring Reiki energy to the recipient.  When a person receives Reiki, they are receiving energy to help restore flow and remove energetic blockages in the body.  Once the energy is free flowing, the physical organs and tissues are then able to complete their healing processes. In this way, Reiki directly addresses the source of illness, rather than the symptoms.

Who Would Benefit from a Reiki Session?

Since Reiki restores and enhances the flow of energy in the body, sessions are beneficial to everyone.  Many people use Reiki for pain management, stress relief, to help heal physical injuries, or aid in recovery from illness.  Others are seeking to find their sense of purpose and meaning in life, or to overcome mental or emotional roadblocks.  Some use Reiki simply to relax and increase their overall well-being.

What Are the Benefits of Reiki?

Reiki is known for its calming effects on the nervous system. Research suggests it can help activate the parasympathetic response—slowing heart rate, reducing blood pressure, and supporting the body’s return to homeostasis, a state of natural balance and well-being.

Many people turn to Reiki for its ability to ease physical discomfort, lower stress levels, foster deep relaxation, and support the body’s natural healing processes.

Additional reported benefits include:
• Increased vitality and creativity
• Greater emotional stability
• Sharpened mental clarity
• A deepened sense of spiritual connection
• Enhanced mobility and ease of movement
• Better sleep and more restful nights

Case studies and early research also suggest Reiki may help improve pain management and overall quality of life for individuals facing chronic illness, including those undergoing cancer treatment.

Reiki is increasingly offered in hospitals, hospices, and integrative wellness programs as a supportive, holistic therapy for mind, body, and spirit.

What Happens During a Session?

During a Reiki session, you’ll remain fully clothed while lying comfortably on a treatment table in a peaceful, supportive space. I will place my hands lightly on or just above your body in a series of positions—typically moving from head to toe, front to back—while intuitively working with your body’s energy centers, your chakras.

The intention is to gently clear imbalances and restore harmony throughout your system. Reiki is not a massage—there is no manipulation of muscles or tissues—but the effects can be just as profound.

You may experience warmth, tingling, a sensation of energy flowing, or even visual impressions such as colors or images. Some clients feel emotional releases; others enter a deep meditative state of relaxation or feel dreamlike. These experiences are all completely natural and are signs that your body is releasing, balancing, and recalibrating its energy.

If anything feels uncomfortable during the session, simply let me know—your comfort and well-being are always the priority.

Each Reiki session is a personal journey, and no two experiences are ever quite the same.

Getting the Most Out of a Reiki Session

Reiki, or Universal Life Force Energy, helps activate the body’s natural ability to maintain balance and well-being by clearing energetic blockages and encouraging a harmonious flow of energy.

While Reiki requires no effort on your part to receive, the experience can be deepened by your openness and intention. The degree to which Reiki supports healing may reflect your willingness—consciously or subconsciously—to release what no longer serves your highest and greatest good.

To get the most out of your session, consider:
• Arriving with an open heart and mind
• Releasing expectations
• Allowing yourself to fully relax, let go and simply receive
• Gently clearing your thoughts or setting a quiet intention before the session begins

Reiki works gently and intuitively, meeting you exactly where you are. The more you surrender to the process, the more your body and spirit can align with healing, peace, and renewal.

What to Expect After a Reiki Session

Reiki is a powerful yet gentle energetic experience, and its effects often continue well beyond the session itself. Many people report feeling lighter, calmer, and deeply relaxed immediately afterward. It’s important to allow yourself a few quiet moments to fully return to your awareness—sitting for about 15 minutes while sipping water and reorienting to your surroundings is recommended.

You may notice reduced pain, improved sleep, or a general sense of emotional clarity. These are signs that your energy is rebalancing and that the healing process is underway. The benefits of Reiki often continue to unfold over the following days and weeks.

As the body adjusts, it may also begin a natural detoxification process. To support this, it’s helpful to:
• Increase your water intake
• Take a warm Epsom salts bath
• Get extra rest and gentle movement
• Be patient with emotional or physical shifts—these are often signs of energetic release and renewal

Remember, your body is doing sacred work in response to the Reiki energy. Trust the process and give yourself the space to integrate and heal.

Will Reiki Interfere with Medications or Other Treatments?

No—Reiki does not interfere with medications or medical treatments and is considered a safe, non-invasive complementary therapy. It is increasingly offered in integrative health settings, including hospitals and hospices, as a way to support overall well-being. While scientific research on Reiki is still emerging, many individuals report benefits such as reduced stress, improved relaxation, emotional balance, and pain relief. Some case studies suggest Reiki may help ease treatment side effects and support the body’s natural healing response. However, Reiki is not a replacement for medical care. Instead, it gently complements conventional treatments by addressing the body, mind, and spirit as a whole.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

The number of Reiki sessions you'll benefit from depends on your personal needs, goals, and the nature of what you're working through. For general well-being and stress relief, many people find that regular sessions—biweekly or monthly—help them stay balanced and grounded.

If you're addressing a specific concern, such as emotional distress or a long-standing energy imbalance, it’s often recommended to begin with two to three sessions over 10 to 14 days. This can help initiate energetic clearing and begin restoring flow in the body’s energy system.

In cases involving chronic pain, long-term illness, or end-of-life support, more frequent sessions over an extended period may offer greater benefit. Reiki gently meets you where you are, and the healing process is unique to each individual.

Ultimately, I encourage you to tune in to how you feel after each session. Together, we can find a rhythm that supports your healing journey.

Tips After a Reiki Treatment

You’ve just gifted yourself a precious moment of healing and self-care—now what? The Reiki energy will continue to work in the hours and days that follow your session. To help you fully integrate and benefit from the experience, here are some simple but important tips:

🌿 Take It Easy
Give yourself some quiet time after your session—even just 20 minutes. Avoid jumping back into busy tasks, scrolling your phone, or heading to the gym. Trust that everything else can wait. If possible, enjoy a warm bath—it’s soothing, grounding, and supports gentle detoxification.

💧 Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water after your session. Water helps flush out toxins and supports the energetic clearing process. Pay attention to your hydration over the next few days—it makes a difference.

🚫 Avoid Alcohol and Tobacco
These substances can dull the senses and disrupt your energetic clarity. Try to avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours to allow your system to stay fully attuned to the healing. Instead, stay present and listen to what your body and energy are telling you.

🥗 Nourish Yourself
Choose light, whole, and nourishing foods. Fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains help support your energy flow. Try to avoid processed foods and refined sugars, which can feel heavy or depleting to the system.

🖊️ Make Notes
Keep a journal nearby and write down any thoughts, feelings, or dreams that arise. You may notice patterns, insights, or even intuitive nudges. These messages can be subtle but meaningful as your energy integrates.

💗 Notice Your Feelings
Whatever you feel—peaceful, emotional, energized, tired—it’s all okay. Reiki often stirs emotional or energetic shifts, and every response is valid. By gently accepting what comes up, you support your healing on every level.

Receiving Reiki is often the beginning of a deeper journey inward.

When you receive energy healing with me, the connection doesn't end when the session does.
As a Reiki Master, I feel deeply honored to be part of your healing journey, and I’m here to offer continued support as you process and integrate the energy in the days that follow. Reiki is a beautiful gift that often unfolds gradually, and I’m always available to hold space, answer questions, or simply listen—whenever you feel the need.

With love and gratitude,
Kristi Lee
